The Lucas classification test confirmed that the basic component of Mixture 11M was an alcohol.

Through a taking an IR Spectra and performing classification tests, and by generating and finding the melting point of the derivative, the basic component of Unknown #11 M was determined to be (2-furyl)-methanol.
